St. George Winter Bird Festival

Don’t miss the annual St. George Winter Bird Festival. Thursday-Sunday, January 27-30, 2011.  This exciting 4-day event offers an opportunity to explore and learn more about the significant natural areas of Southern Utah’s birding hot spots. There will be field trips, workshops, presentations and bird walks throughout the event.

While the St. George area does not see much snow, the surrounding mountains do. Eagles are a common winter guest.

On Saturday evening, birding enthusiasts can attend a special dinner with keynote speaker and wildlife photographer, Paul Bannick, at our sister property Best Western Abbey Inn. Pre-registration for the banquet is required by Friday, January 21, 2011 and can be done at www.sgcityrec.org     A complete schedule of events and times can be viewed and downloaded at St. George Winter Bird Festival webpage.

Turkey Vultures wander throughout the St. George Utah area. These two cruise above one of the higher plateaus above St. George.
