Western Sky Aviation Warbird Museum
On display for a limited time the P-51 Mustang “Section Eight” & the T-33 Shooting Star (Blue Angel)
Starting production in 1940, the North American P-51 Mustang became one of the most famous fighter aircraft of WWll. It was one of the first fighters to see combat in the Korean War. Today most of the surviving P-51 Mustangs are displayed in museum’s or privately owned by those dedicated to preserve aviation history. Number originally built: approx. 16,000, Number still airworthy: approx. 160
Produced from 1948-1959 the T-33 Shooting Star was first built by Lockheed as an American avanced trainer jet aircraft. Despite its vintage the T-33 still remains in service worldwide. Canada and Japan also built T-33 variants. In the 1950’s the T-33 was used as support aircraft for both the U.S. Navy Blue Angels & the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.
Museum hours: Saturday’s 10:00am – 4:00pm (closed Saturday Dec. 24, 2011)
Admission is free but donations are welcome: Suggested donation $2 per person $5 per family
